THE SEAGLASS PROJECT ‘TUNA’…

THE SEAGLASS PROJECT ‘TUNA’…Date: 21.11.2010

If you’re looking for something different to ride this Summer, then this could be what you’re looking for. For years top pros and shapers have been saying that flex characteristics will be the next frontier in terms of surfboard design and performance. With our ever increasing knowledge of Carbon railed and stringer-less boards giving parabolic performance, we understand that there is merit to this belief. Tom Wegener is way ahead of the curve with his understanding of flex in board design. Tom has been experimenting with a combination of ancient knowledge, modern material theories and an elite team of forward thinking surfers to deliver the Seaglass Project Tuna.

The Tuna is a finless Alaia board that you have no doubt seen guy’s like Rasta and Machado sliding around on in various movies. Most recently being ‘Castles In The Sky’. The Tuna’s have a perfect blend of flex, rail and bottom contours combined with modern materials to increase flotation. These boards don’t require fins to be ridden, and they are changing the way people look at riding waves and surfboard design. The rocker profile is extremely flat, making it very easy to paddle and catch waves. The combination of the gentle curves and hard rails hold the board to the face of the wave. The Tuna’s speed is incredible, even on the smallest of waves! So, if you’re looking for something different to ride, this will completely change your perception of what is ‘surfable’ and what is not.
